Match Times:

KIDS ADULTS MALE / FEMALE (18-29 yrs.) JUVENILE (16-17 yrs.) MASTERS (30-35 yrs.) & SENIORS (36-40 / 41+)
4, 5, 6 yrs. = 2 min. white belts = 5 min. all belts = 5 min. all belts = 5 min.
7, 8, 9 yrs. = 3 min. blue belts = 6 min.
10, 11, 12 yrs. = 4 min. purple belts = 7 min.
13, 14, 15 yrs. = 4 min. brown belts = 8 min.



Rules & Regulations


General Rules

  • Judo Black Belts must compete as Purple Belts and up.
  • Judo Brown Belts must compete as Blue Belts and up.
  • Current or past college wrestlers must compete as Blue Belts and up.
  • Bent knee locks, neck cranks, bicep locks, heel hooks, cervical locks, scissor takedowns and slamming will not be permitted. The competitor will be disqualified if any of those techniques are used.
  • Guillotine or any type of foot locks will not be permitted for Kids (4-15) or any White belt competitor.
  • Leg locks or toe-holds will not be permitted for Blue and Purple belts, only straight foot locks.
  • Kids 4-12 are not aloud to do a triangle by pulling the head or Ezequiel choke.
  • Kids 4-7 are not aloud to apply submissions.
  • Single elimination tournament.
  • This tournament will be a double elimination tournament for competitors under the age of 15. There will be a winners bracket to determine 1st, and 2nd and 3rdplace.
  • Any competitor who does not show up for a match will automatically forfeit the match and registration fee.
  • Arrive 30 minutes prior to your match.
  • Competitor disqualified will lose his or her registration fee.
  • There is never a draw. Bouts will be decided by: points, submission, advantage, disqualification and referee interruption.
  • The Gracie Barra Competition network is not responsible for accident, injury, or death as a result of the tournament.

 

Points

Mount = 4 points
Back mount w/hooks = 4 points
Passing the guard = 3 points
Takedown = 2 points
Sweep = 2 points
Knee on stomach = 2 points

*Advantage = It is considered an advantage when the athlete attempts but does not complete any of the fundamental moves of the fight; i.e. sweep, take down, submission etc. When there is a tie situation on the score the one who has more advantages will win.

*Negative = Are penalties given to the athlete after committing a second offence .i.e. avoiding engaging, staling or not seeking ways to finalize the fight. On the first offence the offender will be given a verbal warning.On the second offence the offender's opponent will be given an advantage.On the third offence the offender's opponent will be given two points.After the third offence the referee may disqualify the athlete for any further fouls.

Uniform

  • Official Gracie Barra Uniform (Gi) is required and top and bottom colors should match. Only White or Blue Uniforms (Gis) are allowed for kids and adults.
  • Rash guard (or black t-shirt) and shorts (of any kind) underneath the gi are required.
  • Wrestling shoes are not permitted
  • The Uniform (Gi) checker official verifies before the fight if the Uniform (Gi) has the proper length.

Conduct

  • You are expected to treat each other, referees, staff, coaches, and spectators with respect
  • Honor the values of sportsmanship and fair play shall never intentionally injure a fellow sportsman in competition.
  • All unsportsmanlike conduct shall be reported to the Head official and to the tournament director for final decisions on course of action.
  • Wear your Gi on the medals podium

The Gracie Barra Competition Network, upon Gracie Barra America's approval, reserves the right, at any time, to make the necessary changes or additions to the present rules.
Disclaimer: The promoters are not liable for any injury and / or accident involving the competitors. The event is properly insured. Medical staff will be on the premises to provide First-Aid as needed



Registration Timeline

  • Early online registration through Monday April 19th.
  • Late registration until May 3rd, 2010 12:00 AM PST.
  • Late registration April 19th through May 3rd, add $10 to fees
  • Tournament schedule will be posted May 6th
  • All corrections will be due noon of May 4th
  • NO CHANGES will be made once brackets are published
